Taxi in Kyiv — FlyTaxi Service: Classes, Prices, Coverage

FlyTaxi in Kyiv: car classes, sample route prices in UAH, coverage areas, ways to book, payment options, and ride safety.

What FlyTaxi is

FlyTaxi is a taxi service operating across Kyiv around the clock, every day of the year. Bookings are processed quickly, cars typically arrive 5 to 10 minutes after a booking is confirmed. The service covers central neighborhoods as well as outlying residential districts, plus suburban and intercity routes.

The fare is known before the ride starts. The amount you see when placing the order won't change on the way, as long as the route stays the same. There is no meter running up in traffic and no recalculation at the end of the trip, which is worth knowing if you've used street taxis in Kyiv before.

Car classes and when to choose each

FlyTaxi offers four car classes. They differ in price, capacity, and comfort level.

Economy

The cheapest option, fine for everyday trips around town: to work, to a metro station, to the shops. The car seats four passengers and the boot fits one or two normal bags. This is the base class the fare grid starts from, every other class is priced above it.

Comfort

A newer, roomier car. Worth it when you're travelling with a suitcase, with a child, or heading to a meeting. The price difference from economy is roughly 20 to 40 percent depending on the route, and the exact figure is shown when you pick the class during booking.

Business

A higher tier of car and driver. This class is chosen for meeting business partners, going to negotiations, or when a presentable pickup matters. There are fewer business-class cars on the road than economy ones, so during rush hour the wait can be slightly longer.

Minivan

For groups of four or more, or a lot of luggage. Typical cases: an airport run with the whole family and their suitcases, moving with large bags, a group of colleagues heading to one address. Book a minivan in advance where you can, especially for early morning flights, since fewer of them are on the road.

Coverage areas

The service operates in every district of Kyiv. That includes Obolon, a large residential area in the north along the Dnipro river, Troieshchyna, a big housing district on the left (eastern) bank, Pechersk, the central district with government buildings and embassies, Podil, the historic old town by the river, and the Holosiivskyi district in the south.

Pickup times vary by district. In the centre and in densely built-up areas a car usually arrives closer to the lower end of the range, around 5 to 7 minutes, simply because more cars are nearby. In outlying districts and low-rise areas the wait can be longer, roughly 10 to 15 minutes, particularly in the evening and during rush hour.

Beyond the city, FlyTaxi also covers suburban routes to towns around Kyiv such as Brovary, Irpin, Bucha, Vyshneve, and Boryspil, along with intercity trips to other cities. For suburban and intercity rides it's worth confirming the fare when you book, since it's calculated on actual distance.

Sample prices for popular routes

The fare depends on distance, car class, and time of day. Below are approximate economy-class fares under normal conditions, all prices in Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH).

RoutePrice from
City center → Obolon120 UAH
Podil → Borshchahivka130 UAH
Khreshchatyk (main downtown street) → Central Railway Station80 UAH
City center → Zhuliany Airport350 UAH
City center → Boryspil Airport550 UAH

These are economy-class starting points, which is why each figure is shown as "from". Several things move the final number: the actual distance of your route, the car class you pick, the time of day, and how busy the roads are. The same route during rush hour can cost more than at midday because the car spends longer on the road. The exact amount is calculated automatically when you place the order.

Ways to book

You can book a taxi through the form on flytaxi.com.ua by entering your addresses and choosing a car class. A detailed step-by-step guide to the booking form is available in a separate article on the site.

If you prefer to book from your phone, FlyTaxi also has a mobile app with the same booking features, covered in its own guide.

You can also book by phone, reading your address to an operator, useful if you don't have internet access.

Payment

FlyTaxi accepts cash paid to the driver, card payment in the car, or online payment at the time of booking. All prices are quoted in Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH). The payment method is chosen when you place the order and can be changed before the driver arrives.

Paying online is convenient when you're booking a car for someone else, sending a taxi to a relative, for example. The passenger then has nothing to pay on arrival. Card payment in the car goes through the driver's terminal, so it's sensible to carry some cash as a backup in case of connection problems. If you're arriving in Ukraine for the first time, note that hryvnia is the only currency accepted for cash payment.

Ride safety

FlyTaxi drivers are vetted before going on shift and go through regular training. Documents, driving experience, and the condition of the car are all checked, and the training covers both driving and dealing with passengers.

Every ride is tracked in real time, so the car's route is visible from pickup to drop-off. You see the driver's name, the car model and its plate number before the car arrives, which means you can check the plate before getting in. That information can be forwarded to someone else if you're travelling late.

Support is available 24 hours a day. It's worth contacting them if the driver isn't answering, you've left something in the car, or you have a question about the fare. Every request is linked to a specific booking, so the ride history is available for checking. Language is worth mentioning here: not every driver speaks English, so having your destination written down or pinned on a map helps.

Airport transfers

FlyTaxi serves both of Kyiv's airports, Boryspil and Zhuliany. The fare is known in advance, and for an airport run you can book comfort, business, or minivan if there are several passengers with luggage.

The drive from the city centre to Boryspil takes roughly 40 to 60 minutes, while Zhuliany is closer at about 20 to 30 minutes. Those figures exclude traffic, so leave extra time for morning and evening trips.

For a flight, pre-book for a specific time rather than calling a car at the last minute. The usual advice for international departures from Boryspil is to leave the centre about three hours before takeoff, allowing for the drive and check-in. If two or more of you are flying with suitcases, pick comfort or a minivan from the start, since two large cases may not fit in an economy-class boot.

Night rides

The service runs at night the same way it does during the day, with no breaks and no days off. Pickup times at night stay within the same 5 to 10 minute range, depending on the district. In the centre there are usually enough cars at night, while in outlying districts the wait can be longer than during the day.

At night in particular, check the car's plate number and the driver's name against what's shown in your booking before getting in. Route tracking runs around the clock, as does support, so there's someone to contact at any hour.
